Google's New Tool May Drive Customers Away; Other Tech Developments

Google has developed a new feature for its Search and Maps that will be helpful for its users, but can easily cause lost business for restaurant and bar owners. Google is the most heavily trafficked site on the Internet, so this new tool can be expected to have widespread influence.

The new tool, which will be included in both Search and Maps, will alert users as to how crowded your bar or restaurant is in real time. The technology will use aggregated, anonymous location history data. (Source: The Verge)

If your business is popular enough to generate a buzz because of the crowds it attracts, your numbers may be affected by this new feature. —Gene Marks, Forbes

Four other new technology developments that affect small business owners are covered by Marks in his full article.
