Franchisee Jeff Davis: Overtime, Wages & Paid Leave Regulations Are Hard on Restaurants

Jeff Davis, chairman and CEO of Arby's largest franchisee, Oklahoma-based United States Beef Corp, and the new chairman of the National Restaurant Association, writes this opinion piece in his local paper, Tulsa World.

Regrettably, our contributions have often been overlooked and disparaged by policymakers and activists in recent years. Overreaching regulations are enacted without considering the impact they would have on jobs and small business growth. Mandates on overtime and paid leave make it hard for smaller restaurants to keep their business afloat, while one-size-fits-all demands on wages and scheduling requirements strain the collaborative relationship between employers and employees…Making sure Congress, the Trump administration and the American people understand the value of the restaurant industry and our service sector economy also starts with us.

Franchisee Davis challenges other restaurateurs to share their experiences with the public as well.
