The Franchise Owner's most trusted news source
Franchisors often select a few franchisees into a Franchisee Advisory Council. This is an advisory council that review new products and services, review advertising, and look into cooperative purchases from vendors.
In some franchise systems, franchisees elect who represents them to the franchisor in its franchisee advisory council.
One criticism is that franchise advisory councils can sometimes be puppets of the franchisor rather than as a partnership. Members can sometimes be selected on their large franchise size and influence so that small single-unit franchisees can feel unrepresented.
