Westaff’s Associate of the Year Named National Staffing Employee of the Year

All-Star, Office–Clerical & Administrative Sector

Burlington, VT — September 19, 2016Westaff is pleased to announce its 2016 Associate of the Year, Dominic Berrini, has been honored by the American Staffing Association (ASA) as the 2017 National Staffing Employee of the Year All-Star, office–clerical and administrative sector. ASA’s announcements of the National Staffing Employee of the Year and All-Stars in five industry sectors mark the beginning of National Staffing Employee Week, Sept. 19–25, 2016. The week honors the contributions of the more than three million temporary and contract employees on assignment every day supporting U.S. businesses.

Westaff Franchise Owner James Mount explains why Dominic Berrini was originally chosen as Westaff’s Associate of the Year in 2016. “After working as an elementary school teacher for several years, Dominic was interested in a career change and embraced temping with genuine enthusiasm! Wherever he went, Dominic made a powerful impact for good on Clients, Colleagues, and fellow Associates.” After Dominic passed Westaff’s thorough screening process, the Burlington office hired Dominic and placed him on many assignments with Clients as diverse as Omni Medical Systems, Ascension Technology, University of Vermont Medical Center, and well-known snowboard manufacturer Burton. Natalie Duval, Westaff Senior Staffing Consultant, explains what makes Dom different. “He consistently represented Westaff with great zeal and has demonstrated incredible adaptability and versatility.”

Westaff nominated Berrini for National Staffing Employee of the Year, and was delighted to learn that he was a finalist, winning the All-Star award for the office–clerical and administrative sector. Berrini was surprised as well. “Being named a National Staffing Employee of the Year All-Star felt like the praise of all my former employers washing over me at once.”

Berrini’s temporary tale has an abiding ending. After an assignment in Burton’s Inventory Control department, Dominic was offered a permanent position. “It didn't take long to realize that I would be very happy in this position.”

Berrini recommends the temporary experience to anyone who is seeking employment or is not satisfied with their employment situation. “I would encourage others to accept an assignment that isn't totally aligned with their work history and skill set. Do a good job at whatever is available and wait for the right opportunity to come along.”
