If you do a search of legal cases on the link below in the last 10 years Maaco has filed about 48 law suits against its franchisees. Driven Brands / Meineke has filed about 65 and Econo Lube 12.
It looks like Maaco is filing suits every other month or so.
All together that means Driven Brands / Maaco / Meineke has filed suit against 10% of its franchise base in the past ten years. Is this amount of litigation excessive or commonplace? All of the suits seem to be contract disputes.
Should anyone be buying into anything with a 10% chance of a Federal law suit?
Why would a Franchisor feel the need to sue so many of its franchisees?
